ON-30 Logging railroad
The AGHR On30 layout is a logging railroad designed for geared locomotives. The lowest elevation has a logging camp with a log pond that receives logs from a log flume. The camp is currently under construction. The trains haul their lumber to a higher elevation through three switchbacks. Eventually after exiting the third switchback the trains will exit the logging area to another part of the layout that is still being planned.
o-gauge subway system
As the AGHR layout evolved to focus on digital control (DCS from MTH and Lionel Legacy/TMCC) the club changed from variable to fixed 18V power for better digital signal integrity. The consequences of this members no longer had a place to run conventional trains. To solve this we added a "below the table" conventional-controlled subway layout that runs along the outside of the table.

AGHR ALWEG MONORAIL
In 2018 we installed an ALWEG monorail layout above our O-gauge layout. The trains, track layout and switches are entirely built using parts of the original Disneyland monorail models built and sold by Schuo toys during the 1960s making the layout an antique. As the train pickups are very small it takes significant effort to keep the trains clean and running. The original version of the layout was fully computer controlled and dispatched trains automatically according to an actual schedule based on the clock.

scenery and custom accessories
Many of the structures and buildings throughout our AGHR layout are either scratch built models or accessories. Some of the most impressive custom structures include a fully operating roundhouse and turntable, a custom built machine shop, our UFO accessory, and our nuclear power plant.
